Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• 4 total weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
• Holiday work based on unit coverage needs
• Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2 with high number of 1:1 assignments
• Float to other ICUs and all telemetry units (4:1 ratio on tele)
• Required to float to Westgate facility when requested
• Travelers will float first before permanent staff
• Must have Level I trauma experience
• ICU experience required, CVICU experience preferred
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
• Pass/fail SIMs lab on day 1 of orientation for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• 2 days of floor-specific orientation
• Strong IV skills required (no IV team available)
• Must maintain sterile field competency
• Care for cardiac surgery recovery patients, IABP, CRRT, lung transplant, thoracic procedures
• Handle high acuity patients including ECMO, esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumectomy, TAVR
• Assist with bedside procedures including bronchs, Swan-Ganz catheters, epidurals
• Use Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry systems
• Navy scrubs required
• Natural hair color and no facial piercings required
• Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
• Must have own vehicle
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (CCRN preferred)
• 24-bed CTICU/CVICU unit
• 50-mile radius rule applies

This major academic medical center serves as a Level I trauma facility providing comprehensive cardiac and critical care services. The facility features a 24-bed CTICU/CVICU unit with very high acuity patients and offers advanced cardiac procedures including heart and lung transplants. The hospital maintains 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services, with intensivist coverage during days and on-call coverage at night. The facility is known for its advanced cardiac surgery program and handles complex cases including ECMO, IABP, and various thoracic procedures.
