Step into a dynamic educational setting as an instructional assistant serving 5th-grade students with unique needs. This contract role begins as soon as possible, with priority given to candidates ready to onboard quickly. You’ll work 1:2, partnering closely with two students—one of whom uses a wheelchair and has cerebral palsy, as well as asthma. Your primary focus will be on supporting this student, yet both students will benefit from your expertise and care throughout the school day.

To excel in this position, you’ll need strong experience as a paraprofessional in special education environments. A medical background or familiarity with medical conditions is highly valued, given the students’ needs. Tasks will include assisting with feeding, toileting, and mobility, ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom experience. You’ll work full time, Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm, alongside dedicated educators and therapists.

Qualifications:

• Experience as an instructional assistant or paraprofessional in school settings
• Special education (SPED) background required
• Comfort providing hands-on support, including toileting, feeding, and mobility
• Medical training or experience preferred
• Empathy, patience, and strong communication skills
• Reliability and promptness for consistent, full-time attendance

Responsibilities:

• Work 1:2 with students with cerebral palsy and asthma
• Deliver personalized, compassionate care throughout daily routines
• Support classroom activities, accommodations, and IEP goals
• Assist with physical needs for a wheelchair-bound student
• Maintain a positive, inclusive environment with no difficult behavioral challenges
