We are seeking a high-performing Biospecimen Associate II to be a key contributor to our daily Biospecimen Acquisition and Management (BAM) operations. The opportunity:

In this dynamic position, you will take ownership of the end-to-end lifecycle of our vital biological materials. You will be the crucial link between our labs and our vendors, managing both the physical specimens and the financial processes that support their acquisition. All duties are performed in compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Advanced Biospecimen Management:

  • ​ Receiving shipments, performing sample verification, and managing the storage, retrieval, and distribution of biological samples.

  • Maintaining end-to-end traceability of all materials by interfacing with our validated laboratory information management system (LIMS).

  • Ensuring data integrity by identifying and helping to resolve discrepancies through collaboration with subject matter experts.

  • Critical Procurement and Financial Operations:

  • Managing the entire purchase order (PO) lifecycle, including creation, detailed quote review, invoice approval, and PO closure.

  • Utilizing the MyBuy system to process procurement activities, meticulously verifying the accuracy of every submission.

  • Investigating and verifying data from multiple sources to ensure seamless financial reconciliation.

  • Serving as a primary point of contact for external vendors regarding shipments, quotes, and invoices.

  • Processing monthly reclassifications and handling TMA purchasing while adhering to strict deadlines.

  • Collaboration and Process Improvement:

  • Communicating effectively with internal, cross-functional research teams regarding sample recovery and charging.

  • Demonstrating the initiative and willingness to ask questions, push back when necessary, and advocate for best practices with project teams.

  • Contributing to the improvement of newer processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Who you are:

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience handling biological specimens and a willingness to work with potentially infectious materials.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.

  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent written communication skills for interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.

  • A self-motivated and proactive mindset, with the ability to maintain quality and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Google suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An Associate's Degree in a biological discipline or related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in biobanking and knowledge of oncology terminology.

  • Ability to utilize multiple systems for procurement and data management (e.g., BRIDGE, MyBuy, Vendor sites).

Pay transparency

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Tucson is 44,200.00 - 82,200.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
