Dependable Hospice is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Director of Nursing Services (DON) to lead our clinical team in Tucson, Arizona. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing all hospice clinical operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and upholding the highest standards of compassionate end-of-life care.

Position Overview

The Director of Nursing Services provides strategic and operational oversight of all direct and indirect patient care services within our hospice program. This role ensures clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration while fostering a supportive, accountable, and patient-centered culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of all hospice clinical services

• Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing and interdisciplinary team members

• Ensure compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation and state/federal hospice regulations

• Conduct regular chart audits to maintain documentation accuracy and regulatory readiness

• Participate in and lead QAPI (Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement) initiatives

• Review referrals to determine hospice eligibility and assist with admissions as needed

• Actively participate in IDG (Interdisciplinary Group) meetings

• Support staff onboarding, orientation, and ongoing clinical education

• Provide direct patient care in home settings when necessary

• Monitor medical supply inventory and ensure clinical readiness

• Prepare for and participate in compliance audits and regulatory surveys

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Arizona

• Minimum of 2 years of hospice and/or skilled home health experience (exp can be a combination of home health and hospice)

• At least 1 year of leadership, management, or supervisory experience

• Strong working knowledge of hospice regulations, Medicare requirements, and compliance standards

• Excellent leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Working Environment

• Primarily office-based with routine local travel to patient homes and partner facilities

• Ability to work in a variety of home environments

• May require occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs) and hands-on patient support
