Job Title: Mortgage Underwriter

Job Description

The Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for ensuring that all reviewed assets meet applicable investor guidelines through a thorough understanding of mortgage requirements and regulations. This role demands precision, accountability, and a commitment to quality in underwriting decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite a full range of mortgage loans, preferably including FHA products
• Review mortgage applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Collaborate with clients to prepare and finalize mortgage documentation, resolving outstanding issues
• Partner with compliance officers to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations
• Approve or deny mortgage applications in a timely and compliant manner

Required Skills

• Mortgage industry knowledge
• Mortgage underwriting expertise
• DE Underwriter certification preferred
• Credit review and risk assessment

Additional Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Solid understanding of automated underwriting systems
• Proficiency with AUS platforms (e.g., DU, LP)
• Familiarity with mortgage laws and regulations, including the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act
• Knowledge of federal and state agency guidelines (FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $35.00/hr.
