General Facilities/Mechanical Technician
Job Summary:
The General Facilities/Mechanical Technician for Warehouse & Equipment is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of a variety of equipment, including forklifts, turret trucks, delivery vehicles, and other warehouse machinery. This role is crucial to ensuring equipment reliability and optimal performance, contributing to the overall efficiency of warehouse operations. We are seeking a highly skilled, dependable Facilities & Maintenance Technician to support daily operations by maintaining our warehouse, production equipment, and facility systems.
Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on forklifts, turret trucks, delivery vehicles, and other warehouse equipment.
- Identify mechanical issues through troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Conduct inspections and services according to established schedules and
manufacturer guidelines.
Facility Maintenance:
- Perform routine building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical (basic), drywall repair, painting, and lighting replacement.
- Inspect and maintain HVAC units; coordinate with external HVAC service providers when needed.
- Ensure facility is compliant with safety, cleanliness, and operational standards.
- Oversee upkeep of restrooms, breakrooms, office areas, production floors, and exterior areas.
- Support installation of racks, shelving, and warehouse infrastructure improvements.
Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems in warehouse equipment.
- Utilize specialized tools and equipment to carry out repairs and adjustments as needed.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to address complex mechanical issues.
Maintenance Logs and Checklists:
- Create and maintain accurate maintenance logs and checklists for all equipment, documenting service history and repairs performed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in all maintenance practices.
- Report maintenance and repair statistics to management regularly for review.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
- Ensure that all equipment meets safety standards and is in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Participate in safety training programs and contribute to a culture of safety within the
workplace.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with warehouse staff to understand equipment usage and specific maintenance needs.
- Assist in training staff on the proper use and maintenance of equipment when necessary.
- Provide support to the warehouse operations team to minimize downtime caused by equipment failures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various conditions.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with exposure to machinery and tools.
Expected and essential knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in automotive or mechanical repair preferred.
- Proven experience as a mechanic or in a similar role, with a focus on warehouse equipment.
- 2+ years of experience in a facility or maintenance technician role.
- Working knowledge of warehouse equipment diagnostics and repair.
- Ability to perform basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing tasks.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and general maintenance practices.
- Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and report on maintenance
activities. - Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment.
- Forklift certification or the ability to become certified.
- Familiarity with building codes, OSHA guidelines, and PM schedules.

Job Type: Full-time.
Pay: Average pay rate $18 - $25/hour.
Schedule: 8-hour shift; Monday to Friday, starting 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
