IT Systems Engineer

Job Summary:
In this role, you will support the systems life cycle in Hughes’ multi-platform environment by implementing and maintaining an efficient and secure enterprise infrastructure that offers uninterrupted service for our employees and members. You’ll assist in the oversight and management of Hughes enterprise systems infrastructure including server hardware, operating systems, storage hardware/software, messaging and collaboration hardware/software, and related peripherals. This position will also assist in the training of other system engineers and technicians to ensure continuity of support and system uptime.

Salary: $76,000-$95,0000 Depending on Experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
• Maintain security (Patching), backup, and redundancy strategies.
• Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
• Coordinate with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
• Manage and update all aspects of VMware, ESXI and Vcenter.

Qualifications:
Required Skills:

• Minimum five years of similar or related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent work or educational experience required.
• Excellent Customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• In depth knowledge of Enterprise Datacenter Technologies, Desktop Operating Systems, End Point Management platforms including Azure Update Management, Office 365, VMWare etc..) and mobile management platforms required.
• In-depth knowledge of virtual desktop technologies, remote deployment, server virtualization technologies and server operating systems required.
• Ability to discuss technical issues effectively with other IT professionals, as well as non-technical users.
• Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently with sole responsibility and as part of a team to deliver quality work product in a timely fashion in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects with good judgment
• Ability to exercise excellent professional judgment
• Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business and technical environment

Preferred Skills:

• Certification – Vmware, Cisco, Microsoft Certifications, or other IT industry standard certifications a plus.
