FT Houseperson

Scope:

Responsible for cleaning and maintaining public areas of the hotel in accordance with established cleanliness standards to ensure a welcoming and sanitary environment for guests and staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Inspect public areas regularly to ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards are met; report issues to supervisor.

• Assist room attendants with heavy lifting (e.g., mattresses, soiled linens) and supply delivery.

• Shampoo carpets, strip and wax floors, and maintain all floor surfaces throughout the property.

• Clean designated areas including lobbies, public restrooms, hallways, and back-of-house areas.

• Collect trash from guest floors, housekeeping carts, vending/service areas, offices, and restrooms.

• Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests such as delivery of additional linens, rollaway beds, or other housekeeping supplies.

• Ensure guest satisfaction through friendly, timely, and attentive service.

• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Internal Collaboration:

• Engineering Department – Report repair needs.

• Laundry Department – Deliver and retrieve linens.

• Room Attendants – Provide and collect linen and housekeeping supplies.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills required.

• Prior housekeeping or custodial experience is a plus, but not required.

Working Conditions:

• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

• Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals.

• May be required to work overtime as needed.

Physical & Cognitive Requirements:

This role involves significant physical activity and manual labor, including:

• Frequent lifting (up to 75 lbs) and pushing/pulling (up to 500 lbs).

• Prolonged walking, standing, bending, and reaching.

• Operating commercial cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuums, carpet shampooers, floor buffers, wet vacuums).

• Occasional guest interaction requiring polite, clear communication.

• Problem-solving skills used to address operational or guest-related challenges.
