Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager is a hands-on, strategic business partner and people leader responsible for core HR operations, compliance, and employee lifecycle management. This role partners closely with the Head of Human Resources and serves as the operational owner for workers’ compensation, leave administration, ADA accommodations, employee onboarding and offboarding, immigration sponsorship coordination, training administration, and HR process governance.
The Human Resources Manager exercises independent judgment, applies employment laws and company policies, and ensures consistent, compliant HR practices across a multi-state workforce.
Core Responsibilities
Workers’ Compensation, Leave & ADA
- Manage workers’ compensation claims, carrier communications, and return-to-work coordination
- Administer FMLA, state, and statutory leave programs, including eligibility determinations, documentation, tracking, and compliance
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for ADA accommodation requests and manage the interactive process in partnership with leadership and legal counsel as appropriate
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and audit-ready records related to leave, accommodations, and claims
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Review disciplinary and corrective action documentation for consistency, accuracy, and compliance with company policy and applicable law
- Provide guidance and recommendations to managers in partnership with HR leadership
- Support employee relations matters and workplace investigations as assigned, including documentation and follow-up actions
- Ensure HR practices align with multi-state employment law requirements
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Lead employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including direct communication, facilitation, and employee meetings
- Own the employee-facing onboarding and offboarding experience to ensure consistency and compliance
- Manage, audit, and maintain onboarding and offboarding checklists and documentation
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and stored appropriately in Paylocity
Immigration & Employee Sponsorship
- Coordinate employee immigration and sponsorship matters, including new sponsorships, extensions, and amendments
- Partner with external immigration counsel and internal legal stakeholders to support compliance
- Track timelines, maintain audit-ready immigration records, and monitor sponsorship obligations
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for sponsored employees
Training, LMS & Learning
- Administer the Learning Management System (LMS), including course assignments, tracking, and reporting
- Coordinate compliance training and internal learning initiatives
- Support learning and development programs and facilitation as needed
HR Processes & Systems
- Develop, document, and maintain HR standard operating procedures (SOPs) and workflows
- Identify compliance risks or process gaps and recommend improvements
- Perform HR documentation, audits, and employee lifecycle transactions in Paylocity
- Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and process consistency across HR systems
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive human resources experience
- Hands-on experience supporting employees across multiple U.S. states
- Strong working knowledge of multi-state employment laws and compliance requirements
- Experience administering workers’ compensation, FMLA, ADA, and employee sponsorship processes
- Experience partnering with legal counsel on employment-based immigration matters
- Hands-on Paylocity experience required
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) highly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting complex, multi-state organizations with varied compliance requirements
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar professional HR certification
- Experience supporting training and learning & development initiatives
- Experience in multi-site manufacturing or distribution environments
