Major Gifts Officer
We are hiring for a Major Gifts Officer, preferably based in Nevada. However, relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. This position is mostly remote but would require some travel to meet with donors and attend meetings nationwide.
About the Organization
This is a national organization that connects voters with liberty-focused political candidates through targeted outreach and grassroots engagement programs.
Position Overview
The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is a frontline fundraising leader responsible for building, managing, and growing a portfolio of high-capacity donors. This role combines relationship-building, strategy, and revenue generation to secure significant philanthropic investments. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing a portfolio like a business, building meaningful relationships with donors, and closing 5, 6 & 7-figure gifts that advance the organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Portfolio Management
- Manage a portfolio of 50-100 qualified major gift prospects and donors.
- Build and execute individualized engagement strategies for each donor using a moves-management approach.
- Consistently advance donors from discovery → cultivation → solicitation → stewardship.
- Maintain accurate, timely records in the CRM and provide clear pipeline forecasts.
Revenue Generation
- Own an annual revenue goal (typically $2-5 million, depending on portfolio).
- Conduct face-to-face, virtual, and phone meetings with donors and prospects weekly.
- Develop and present tailored funding proposals aligned to donor interests and organizational priorities.
- Close multi-year and project-based gifts in the five-, six-, and seven-figure range.
Donor Experience & Stewardship
- Deliver a high-touch, high-integrity donor experience that builds trust and long-term commitment.
- Partner with leadership, program, and communications teams to create compelling donor touchpoints.
- Ensure donors receive timely, meaningful impact reporting and stewardship.
Strategy & Collaboration
- Work closely with the Chief of Staff, Development Operations, and leadership to align donor strategy with organizational priorities.
- Contribute to campaign planning, special initiatives, and growth strategies.
- Help refine systems, processes, and best practices as we continue to scale.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in major gifts, partnerships, or relationship-driven fundraising (or equivalent high-level relationship sales).
- Proven track record of closing five- and six-figure gifts or deals.
- Comfortable owning a revenue number and being accountable to outcomes.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills—able to connect mission, strategy, and impact to donor values.
- Highly organized, process-driven, and comfortable working in a metrics-focused environment.
- Willingness to travel as needed for donor meetings and events (up to 50%).
- Alignment with the mission and values.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) nonprofit environments
- Track record of scaling fundraising operations and processes
- Experience advising senior leadership on strategic and revenue-related initiatives
- Familiarity with political or advocacy-focused nonprofit fundraising
Working Conditions
- Office-based or remote work as needed
- Standard business hours with flexibility to accommodate donor engagement activities
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary based on experience ranging from $85,000 – $110,000
- Health insurance, paid time off, and retirement benefits
- Opportunities for professional development and leadership growth
Reporting Structure & Additional Details
- Reports directly to the Chief of Staff
