A hotel Shipping and Receiving Clerk manages all incoming deliveries and outgoing shipments, ensuring accurate inventory, proper storage, and timely distribution of goods to hotel departments. Key duties include inspecting shipments for damage, updating inventory records, and operating loading equipment, while maintaining a safe, organized, and secure loading dock area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving & Inspection: Unload trucks, scan items, and verify incoming freight against purchase orders for accuracy.
- Inventory Distribution: Distribute delivered items (supplies, food, linens) to the appropriate departments efficiently.
- Shipping & Logistics: Package and label outgoing items, arranging logistics for guest packages or vendor returns.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all transactions using computer systems.
- Inventory Control: Perform daily or weekly cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory levels.
- Safety & Maintenance: Keep the loading dock clean, safe, and organized.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
- Organization: Strong attention to detail for verifying shipments and inventory.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency with inventory management software.
- Communication: Ability to work with suppliers and internal departments.
- Experience: Previous shipping/receiving, logistics, or warehouse experience, typically 1–2 years prefered but not required.
Physical Requirements:
The role frequently requires bending, stooping, lifting, reaching overhead, and working in varied temperatures.
