Family Promise of Greater Phoenix is seeking passionate, community-minded leaders to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a vital role in advancing our mission to prevent and end family homelessness by providing emergency shelter, housing solutions, and supportive services that help families achieve lasting independence.
For more than 25 years, Family Promise of Greater Phoenix has worked alongside community partners, volunteers, congregations, donors, and advocates to help families with children overcome housing insecurity and build brighter futures. We are looking for dedicated individuals who are committed to making a meaningful impact in our community.
About the Role
Board members serve as ambassadors, advocates, and strategic leaders for the organization. They provide governance, financial oversight, and mission-focused leadership while supporting fundraising efforts and community engagement. Effective nonprofit board members actively participates in meetings, committee work, strategic planning, and fundraising activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend and actively participate in board meetings and strategic planning sessions.
- Serve on at least one board committee.
- Support the organization's fundraising and resource development efforts.
- Make a personally meaningful annual financial contribution.
- Advocate for Family Promise within the community and professional networks.
- Assist in identifying and cultivating prospective donors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Provide fiduciary oversight and ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
- Support the Chief Executive Officer and leadership team in achieving organizational goals.
- Uphold the mission, values, and strategic priorities of Family Promise of Greater Phoenix.
- Participate in board development, evaluation, and recruitment activities.
Desired Qualifications:

Time Commitment:
- Monthly board meetings.
- Committee participation.
- Attendance at key fundraising and community events.
- Active engagement throughout the year as an ambassador and advocate for Family Promise.
