M&M Industries designs and manufactures plastic packaging used every day. As a Maintenance Specialist III, you’ll be the go-to expert who keeps our injection molding lines, auxiliary equipment, and plant systems safe, efficient, and compliant—minimizing downtime and elevating performance across the operation.

A day in the life

You start your shift reviewing overnight maintenance logs, then move to the floor to diagnose a temperature control issue on an injection molding machine. After calibrating sensors and aligning a drive, you commission a recently installed controller, record performance outcomes, and brief production on the fix. In the afternoon, you update PM documentation, prep tools for a planned changeover, and share improvement ideas with engineering.

What you’ll tackle

• Champion safety—follow all policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Interpret problems quickly; troubleshoot servos, sensors, and control components to root cause.
• Inspect, repair, and optimize injection molding machines, associated equipment, and plant infrastructure for reliable operation and technical compliance.
• Sketch concepts to clarify mechanical design details and functional criteria.
• Diagnose and repair electro-mechanical and instrumentation systems using meters, gauges, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment.
• Assemble experimental circuitry or prototypes based on engineering instructions, technical manuals, and system knowledge; recommend design or circuitry changes that simplify assembly and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and repair solid-state motor drives, temperature controllers, and computer-based controllers; analyze data from drives and controllers to inform decisions.
• Adjust, calibrate, and align circuitry and components; document and record performance outcomes.
• Check and commission newly installed equipment to validate performance under real operating conditions.
• Execute preventive maintenance on schedule; complete all documentation accurately and on time.
• Log equipment usage, parts replacement, and scheduled maintenance to maximize uptime.
• Identify root causes of downtime, poor production performance, non-conforming product, and scrap; communicate findings and corrective actions.
• Maintain 5S standards—keep work areas organized and ready.
• Collaborate with engineers on continuous improvement initiatives and provide clear technical feedback.
• Recognize when equipment has reached end-of-life and escalate appropriately.
• Prepare work areas so tools and materials are available and in proper working order.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new maintenance team members.

Capabilities you’ll use

• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel for logs, PMs, and trend analysis.
• IML (In‑Mold Labeling) setup and troubleshooting expertise.
• Working knowledge of heat transfer machine setup and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and their interactions.
• Hands-on knowledge of machines and tools—their operation, repair, and maintenance.
• Basic grasp of PLC programming and logic.
• Comprehensive understanding of Food Safety, GMP, PRP, and HACCP as they apply to food-contact packaging (in applicable facilities).
• Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. (required)
• Technical 2‑year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)
• 3+ years in Industrial Maintenance (required)
• 2+ years with electronics/electrical systems (preferred)

Physical demands & work environment

• Lift and carry 25–50 lbs frequently; occasionally assist with 75+ lbs.
• Regular bending, stooping, stretching, and ladder climbing.
• Manufacturing setting that may be hot or cold; PPE required at all times (safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.).
