Description: The Floor RN is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to geriatric residents. This role requires providing treatment and services in a professional manner while maintaining a safe and hygienic environment. The RN will oversee and train staff in resident care. Observing and assessing residents’ behavior and physical conditions is essential. As the charge nurse, the RN will supervise licensed staff and Certified Nursing Assistants. The position includes conducting initial admission assessments and assisting in developing care plans. Maintaining accurate clinical and administrative documentation is vital. The RN will lead and perform limited supervision of subordinate staff. Direct resident care assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is part of the role. Conducting in-service training and staff development programs is expected. Utilizing concepts for problem-solving and continuous improvement is essential. Knowledge of geriatric nursing theory and practices is required. The RN should understand the effects of the aging process. Familiarity with pharmacology and medications is necessary. Effective oral and written communication skills are crucial. Building interpersonal relationships with residents and families is important. An ability to implement and monitor effective nursing practices is necessary.
