Lead Water Restoration Technician

At Zona Restoration, the Lead Mitigation Technician is more than just a senior tech, you’re the on-site commander. You’ll oversee water, fire, and mold damage restoration projects from start to finish, directing crews, assigning tasks, and keeping jobs on schedule and within scope. You’ll ensure all work meets IICRC standards, document progress for insurance requirements, and serve as the primary point of contact for both clients and project managers.

This role requires strong technical expertise in mitigation processes, hands-on leadership, and the ability to solve problems in fast-moving, high-stress environments. You’ll be expected to train and mentor junior technicians, enforce safety protocols, and keep communication clear between the field and the office.

As a Lead Mitigation Technician, you'll be a key player in keeping job sites safe, organized, and ensuring the team is running efficiently.

Lead & Manage Restoration Projects

• Oversee water damage mitigation projects and mold remediations from start to finish
• Direct and work alongside helpers and technicians to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency
• Coordinate with office staff, estimators, and other trades as needed

Client Communication

• Act as the on-site point of contact for customers, explaining processes and answering questions
• Maintain a professional, customer-first approach at all times

Technical Execution

• Perform moisture mapping, extraction, structural drying, and containment setup
• Ensure all work meets IICRC and company standards
• Monitor drying progress, adjust equipment, and document results
• Act as a lead sales representative during the initial loss and throughout the job life cycle to ensure customers are informed and comfortable with the recommendations and services we are providing

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce environmental and health safety protocols
• Maintain proper use and upkeep of company vehicles, tools, and equipment

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license (required)
• Willingness to learn and take direction
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Experience in water mitigation, drying equipment, structural drying, or restoration
• Knowledge of mold removal, fire/water restoration, asbestos abatement, or reconstruction

Preferred but not required:

• IICRC certification
