SVP Tucson Executive Director

Social Venture Partners Tucson
Tucson, AZ

Social Venture Partners (SVP) Tucson is a community of engaged philanthrts dedicated to building nonprofits’ capacity, strength, and impact in addressing social problems. We bridge the gap between philanthrts and nonprofits through grant-making and capacity-building relationships.

SVP Tucson is one of 30+ SVP global affiliates bringing a unique model of engaged philanthropy to communities all over the world. Through our unique membership model, individuals and corporations make an annual philanthropic investment in SVP Tucson and can engage with nonprofit community partners through strategically designed projects that include capacity building, professional coaching, and community convening. Our basic format is to choose 1-2 organizations per year for up to 3-year relationships comprising capacity building consulting projects and executive coaching. Additionally, we host a major event for up to 8 nonprofits each spring called FastPitch, which combines a pitch training program and a public showcase and fundraising event. FastPitch accelerates growth in smaller nonprofits that SVP has determined to have the potential to significantly impact the Tucson community.

After a long period of successful relationships in the Tucson nonprofit community, we are currently in a rebuilding phase. We are moving forward with approximately twenty member Partners. While the Executive Director will be the sole paid employee to start, they will have a “staff” of seasoned Partners at their disposal to work directly with nonprofits to plan and execute projects and events.

● Recruit SVP Partners to staff capacity building projects and coaching roles.

● Maintain awareness of community needs and opportunities, as well as a broad understanding of the trends in nonprofit and philanthropic ecosystems.

● Assist with developing educational and training opportunities for the Partners and our supported organizations to ensure more effective engagement and impact in our projects and community initiatives.

● Work in partnership with the Board of Directors, providing clear, timely reporting that promotes strategic conversation and deliberation.

● Build and maintain relationships with peers in local and national philanthropy, government, the nonprofit sector, and the business community.

● In conjunction with the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee, establish budgets; monitor finances; and ensure SVP Tucson meets IRS reporting requirements.

● Manage regular communications and databases, including producing a monthly newsletter to Partners, managing the CRM database, maintaining a current and engaging website, and staying close to our nonprofit collaborators.

● Serve as key liaison with Social Venture Partners International, our umbrella organization.

● A strategic decision-maker with proven organizational and analytical skills to manage complexity

● Be innovative and forward thinking, seeking opportunities to enhance and evolve SVP Tucson’s services

● Enjoy working in a small, team-oriented, and dynamic environment
