Nutrition Operations & Food Service Intern, ASU Athletics - ASU-Training Table

Sun Devil Athletics, in collaboration with Aramark, is seeking a motivated and service-oriented intern to support the daily operations of the Sun Devil Sports Performance (SDSP) Nutrition Bar and assist with food service and catering tasks. This hybrid role offers hands-on experience in nutrition operations, food preparation, and customer service within a Division I athletic environment. The ideal candidate is organized, flexible, and passionate about health, wellness, and hospitality.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the SDSP Nutrition Bar under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for SDA Nutrition.
• Prepare and build food items according to standardized recipes and safety guidelines.
• Properly store, serve, and replenish food in compliance with federal, state, and county regulations.
• Set up and break down workstations including prep tables, service counters, hot wells, and steam tables.
• Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment using approved procedures and chemicals.
• Maintain inventory, place orders, receive deliveries, and communicate with vendors.
• Assist with nutrition education initiatives for student-athletes.
• Train and supervise student workers.
• Provide excellent customer service and anticipate guest needs.
• Ensure security of company assets and adhere to Aramark and SDA safety policies.
• Be able to work occasional night and weekend catered events based on athlete meal plans.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification or ANSI-accredited food handler card (REQUIRED).
• Previous food handling or food service experience preferred.
• Experience in a Division I athletic program and university-level nutrition coursework highly desirable.
• Demonstrated guest service skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Must follow safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
• Must be a student at the Aramark location.
• Work performed in an environmentally controlled nutrition bar and food service setting.
• Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Use of kitchen and custodial equipment, cleaning chemicals, and office tools.
• Must adhere to NCAA, Big 12, university, and Arizona Board of Regents policies and regulations.
• 20 hours/week
