Position Highlights

The A Camp Specialist (Camp Instructional Specialist) will perform a variety of duties to support Youth and Family programs at Campus Recreation and will assist with the implementation of "A" Camp Summer that provides care for 160 campers between the ages of 5-14 in the months of May - August.

The overall objective for this position will be to ensure that "A" Camp Summer is supporting families by providing safe childcare while fostering a positive and nurturing environment for campers to grow. The Camp Instructional Specialist will be a leader in organization of activities, staff development, and communication.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementation of student staff meetings and training to help staff learn job responsibilities and provide a safe space for campers throughout the summer.
  • Create and facilitate special activities weekly which includes all camp activities and field trip logistics to provide enriching experiences for campers.
  • Assist with administrative duties such as updating camp software, creating and maintaining rosters, accepting payments, and providing support for each camp week as needed.
  • Supervise groups of children through an array of camp activities during weekly summer programming.
  • Assist with behavioral management of campers and communicating with camp families.
  • Preparing written communication for families and discussing behavioral plans to ensure the safety and well-being of all campers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Must be 18 years old.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Experience working with children in a large camp atmosphere.
  • Experience with collaborative programming.
  • Current CPR- Pediatric/First Aid certification.
