Job title: Child Development Manager

The Child Development Manager provides support and oversees teaching staff in the planning and implementation of Early Head Start, Head Start, and Early Head Start Childcare Partnership Programs. Services include screening, assessment, individualization, child outcome tracking, and coordination of overall comprehensive child development, mental health, disabilities, nutrition, health, and parent and child development.

In this role, you will:

  1. Oversee the implementation and monitor the delivery of high-quality service and teacher practice.
  2. Assure that services meet the department and program requirements, are comprehensive, appropriate, and delivered within the established timelines.
  3. Demonstrate sensitivity to linguistic, cultural, social, economic, individual, and role differences among persons and families served.
  4. Help design and implement staff training.
  5. Network with public schools and community agencies to address the unmet needs of participating families.
  6. Provides supervision, which is regular, reflective, and collaborative in nature.
  7. Communicates accurately, clearly, and professionally.

What it takes:

  1. Bachelor's degree required: Early Childhood Education, Family Studies or related field.
  2. Minimum 2 years' experience is required, including Early Childhood Education Program in a lead preschool role and supervision experience.
  3. Knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate Practices and Bilingual Education services.
  4. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  5. Knowledge of the Department of Child Safety reporting mandates.
  6. Functional knowledge of Childcare Licensing requirements.

Licenses and Certifications Required :

  1. Auto Insurance Certificate
  2. DCS APS CBC Online Check
  3. CPR and First Aid Certified (or willing to complete upon hire)
  4. Food Handlers Card
  5. Fingerprint Clearance Card Level 1
  6. FPC DPS Verification
  7. Driver's License
  8. DHS Criminal History Affidavit

Strength and Mobility:

  1. Ability to lift 35-50 pounds.
  2. Ability to stoop, bend, and squat to the child's eye level for an appropriate amount of time.
  3. Ability to sit for periods of time on the floor with children.
  4. Ability to get up and down from the floor without assistance.
  5. Ability to run after a child if necessary.
  6. Ability to climb flights of stairs.
  7. Ability to play with children, step, run, and hop.

Travel Required : Day travel within Maricopa County.
