POSITION OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the school campus in a safe, clean, and operational condition. This position performs routine maintenance, minor repairs, and supports facility operations to ensure a safe learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

Facility Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on school buildings, classrooms, and campus facilities.
  • Inspect and maintain plumbing, electrical fixtures, doors, locks, lighting, and HVAC systems.
  • Repair walls, flooring, ceiling tiles, and classroom furniture as needed.
  • Replace light bulbs, filters, and other facility components.

Grounds Maintenance:

  • Maintain outdoor areas, including walkways, parking areas, and school grounds.
  • Assist with trash removal, recycling, and campus cleanliness.
  • Monitor campus for safety hazards and report concerns.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure campus facilities meet safety standards and regulations.
  • Assist with emergency repairs and facility-related incidents.
  • Maintain safe storage of tools, equipment, and materials.

Work Orders & Support:

  • Respond to maintenance requests and work orders from staff
  • Assist with classroom setups, school events, and campus activities
  • Coordinate with custodial staff to address facility needs


Inventory & Equipment:

  • Maintain maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Track and report needed supplies or repairs to the supervisor.
  • Assist with vendor coordination when outside repairs are required.

Other Duties:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Administration to support the overall mission of the school.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Related experience preferred.
  • Valid State of Arizona “IVP” Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and student information systems.
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

BACKGROUND CHECKS:

  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

PHYSICAL/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Stand for long periods of time (frequently).
  • Speak clearly so listeners can understand.
  • Understand the speech of another person.
  • See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • See details of objects that are more than a few feet away.
  • Focus on one source of sound and ignore others.
  • Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble small objects.
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
  • Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm.
  • Use abdominal and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired.
  • Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects.
  • Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Non- Exempt.
  • Twelve-month employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.
  • Full-Time Employee Benefits: in accordance with Board policy.
