Volunteer and Ministries Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY
The Volunteer & Ministries Coordinator (VMC) is responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, supporting, and engaging volunteers for our parish ministries. In this role, the VMC will lead a team of volunteers dedicated to fostering and upholding Catholic virtues, and especially to live out the mission "to know Jesus and make Him known".ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Mission Identification and Recruiting Work closely with staff to identify volunteer needs, and develop new volunteer opportunities aligned with ministry goals. Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers through parish community outreach, events, social media, and partnerships. Training and Orientation Plan and conduct volunteer orientation sessions Provide ongoing training Ensure volunteers understand their roles and responsibilities. Scheduling and Supervision Coordinate volunteer schedules, match volunteers with appropriate ministries, and provide on-site supervision or support as needed. Volunteer Engagement and Relationship Build relationships with volunteers, recognize their contributions, and create opportunities for feedback and ongoing engagement. Data Management Maintain accurate volunteer records, track hours, and produce reports as needed using volunteer management software or databases.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Working knowledge and experience using Google suite applications and/or Microsoft Office suite. Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and organize work efficiently. Self-starter with ability to execute responsibilities effectively with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain a cooperative attitude and effective working relationship with all departments, church groups, employees, volunteers, and parishioners.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, IDENTITY
Believing and practicing disciple of Jesus Christ required. In full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. Committed member of St. John Vianney Parish (preferred). Must pass all required background checks (including credit check) and adhere to the Safe Environment Policies of the Diocese of Phoenix. High School Diploma or equivalent. Practical experience in customer service and/or sales (preferred). Willing to receive continuing education and relevant training. Possess a valid Arizona Driver's license. These qualifications are bona fide occupational requirements for the position due to the ministerial and religious nature of the workplace environment.
