Transportation Driver

This is a part-time position with 20 hours per week and 5-hour a days Monday through Thursday.

Drivers are essential to the work we do at the Cascades because we need transportation to and from doctor's appointments, grocery stores, outings, etc.

The role of the driver is to operate the bus in the safest manner possible, keep all vehicles clean and in good repair, help the passengers in and off the bus in an orderly fashion, and assist with packages and mobility aids such as walkers and canes. The driver may also be responsible for escorting and assisting the activated staff with leisure outings with residents to museums, restaurants, etc.

Responsibilities and duties:

• Provide transportation to residents; assist residents on and off the car/bus and into and out of buildings.
• Report issues involving the daily schedule - including added appointments and errands- to the Activities Director.
• Handle emergencies and basic first aid.
• Engage with residents while on an outing as well as assist activities personnel as needed at outings.
• Deliver groceries and packages to residents' apartments.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years experience driving commercial type van/bus or any combination of passenger driving experience.
• Knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
• Clean DMV record for 36 months.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret written documents.
• Must have negative TB skin test and/or negative chest x-ray results within the last 6 must upon hire and within every month after.
• Must have a negative drug screen and pass a background check as required by the Cascades policy.
• Any physician-prescribed or over-the-counter medicine that would affect your driving ability must be reported to the Actives manager immediately.

Physical requirements:

• Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during work hours.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc. 30 pounds.
