Retail Merchandiser Manager and Buyer

Job Summary
The Retail Merchandiser Manager and Buyer will operate autonomously within our retail environment, leveraging their expertise in both retail and golf merchandising. They will possess exceptional interpersonal skills to engage with members and guests, presenting our merchandise offerings in a professional and courteous manner. Proficiency in visual merchandising is essential for effective merchandise placement, buying plans, and shop displays, crucial for the development and execution of sales strategies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a versatile skill set encompassing supervision, sales, customer service, and administrative proficiency.
Supervision
This position may have supervisory responsibility.
Expenditure of Company Funds
Position has the authority to expense items within assigned budget on a monthly basis. Must follow approved procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are essential to the employee's position.
- Manages visual aesthetic of the golf club and merchandise placement, ensuring retail displays are the best throughout the shop.
- Active involvement on the sales floor in the golf shop, providing service and assisting guests, as well as consistently maintaining a golf shop that is professional in appearance.
- Maintain collaborative partnerships with Retail Buyer and golf shop staff members.
- Plans, promotes, merchandises special events and sales.
- Partners with the Retail Buyer with formulating pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; authorizing clearance sales and studying trends.
- Partners with the Retail Buyer with developing and executing seasonal merchandise plans, visual presentation guidelines and pricing strategies, in both the Golf Shop as well as the Clubhouse Pantry Shop. (Pantry Shop is only at Arizona Biltmore Golf Club.)
- Maintain inventories at proper levels as well as conduct timely inventories of the golf shop
- Managers yearly budgets and merchandise goals and strategies.
- Partners with the Retail Buyer and operations team with receiving and pricing of merchandise, supporting departmental goals, directions, and priorities.
- Partners with the Retail Buyer with sales forecasts evaluating financial components based on current trends, and knowledge of future events impacting business.
- Assist operations team with developing strategies to ensure guest and member satisfaction and maximize business performance and profitability.
- Manage online retail fulfillment.
- In coordination with human resources, hires, trains, develop, and appraises staff effectively.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years of Merchandising and Retail experience required
- Buying experience preferred
- Golf shop experience is preferred
- HSD required; Bachelor's degree in Retail Management or related field desired

- Strong mathematical aptitude (addition, subtraction, percentage, and decimals.)

Required:
- Ability to use Point of Sale (POS) System
- Microsoft Word and Excel
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Required: Position may require travel within the Metropolitan area; thus, reliable transportation is required. If using personal vehicle, must have appropriate driver's license and insurance coverage. Expected to be or become a member of the Association of Golf Merchandisers. AGM Membership dues are covered by the club.
Minimal travel to conference may be required.
Other
Regular attendance is required. Additional hours including weekends may be required on a regular basis to fulfill duties of position. At times, individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to handle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.

Specific auditory abilities required by this job include the ability to accurately hear information conveyed by telephone and ability to work in environment with ambient noise. Work environment is subject to interruptions, varying and unpredictable situations and time pressures related to multiple tasks. It also requires regular use of computer keyboard and monitor. There is extensive repetitive motion in using hands/wrists.
