Sonoran Roots is looking for a highly motivated and reliable individual to join our team as an Assistant Buyer.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Assistant Buyer will assist the Buyer with day-to-day operations, data collection, data input and vendor coordination/communications. The Assistant Buyer is a key operational support position. It ensures the buying process runs smoothly; products are compliant and organized, and internal communication between departments is efficient.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - RETAIL INVENTORY MANAGER:
- Supports the Buyer with product research, order entry (preparing and submitting purchase orders), and follow-ups.
- Track inventory levels and help manage stock flow in conjunction with the sales calendar.
- Monitor current inventory levels and help develop reorder reports and maintain vendor catalogs.
- Communicate with vendors to confirm deliveries and/or resolve basic issues.
- Communicate delays or order discrepancies with internal departments (retail, inventory and marketing)
- Ensure teams are aware of new product drops, cost/pricing updates, or changes in vendor policy.
- Compile sales and product performance reports.
- Helps ensure products meet compliance standards (labeling, testing, etc.).
- Help schedule internal buyer meetings and cross-team syncs.
- Double-check that all incoming products meet state compliance standards as well as company standards.
- Manages administrative tasks and organizes necessary documents.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Pay Rate: Starting at $55k annually
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- 1-2 years of retail, inventory, supply chain, or administrative experience (cannabis preferred but not required).
- Exposure to compliance-heavy industries (e.g., pharma, alcohol, healthcare) is a plus
- Quick learner and willing to be coachable and flexible with work tasks.
- Must be 21+ years old.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an AZDHS Facility Agent Card.
- Attention to detail and ability and willingness to follow instructions.
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Reliable attendance and communication
- Criminal background checks will be performed; most marijuana-related crimes will not negatively impact an application.
- Reliable transportation.
Additional Qualifications (Preferred):
- Experience in the cannabis industry (formal or informal).
- Knowledge of MS Excel
- Industry knowledge preferred, but not required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Cannabis-related education.
