Together, our values ensure that we work together as one global team with our customers at the center of everything we do \u2013 and they push us to ensure we take care of ourselves, each other, and our communities.\n\nJob Summary:\n\nThe Credit Platform team builds the core foundation behind PayPal\u0027s global credit ecosystem, powering PayPal\u0027s credit products like Credit Cards, Buy Now Pay Later, Working Capital, and Merchant Term Loans for millions of customers and businesses worldwide. \nOur team supports credit products across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Australia, with plans to expand into additional markets in 2026. \nWe own and develop core credit business capabilities through well-defined RESTful APls that support the end-to-end credit application journey, from offers and eligibility through application, account management, and asset externalization. Our platform enables consistent and scalable credit expenences across products and markets.\n\nJob Description:\n\nEssential Responsibilities: \n\n * Implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), receiving structure and oversight from more experienced staff\n * Follows well-established internal conventions and standard procedures\n * Understands internal standards \u0026 processes an applies them to make technical decisions\n * Collaborates with peers, manager, and project lead to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions\n * May contribute to code \u0026 design reviews\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n * 1+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor\u2019s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\n\n\nAdditional Responsibilities \u0026 Preferred Qualifications:\n\nAs a Software Engineer on the Credit Platform, you will design and build foundational backend systems that enable PayPal\u0027s credit products to grow and scale globally. You will work on complex, business-critical systems where correctness, performance, security, and regulatory compliance are essential, and where thoughtful engineering has meaningful impact. In your day-to-day, you\u0027ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products. \n\nWhat do you need to bring\n\n * 1+ years of backend development experience. \n\n * Proficiency in at least one back-end language (Java, Python, Ruby on Rails) \n\n * Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs for microservices, focusing on scalability and reliability.\n\n * Developing enterprise system using Spring Frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud, Spring Batch, and WebSocket or similar frameworks. \n\n * Strong understanding of web services and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) standards, including REST, OAuth, and JSON.\n\n * Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) \n\n * Experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL) \n\n * Strong understanding of database design, including SQL and NoSQL databases, and experience with ORM tools like Hibernate. \n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n * Bachelor\u0027s degree in Computer Science or related field. \n\n\n\n * Experience with large-scale, high-performance systems. \n\n * Knowledge of the payment processing industry and relevant regulations. \n\n * Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). \n\n * Contributions to open-source projects. \n\n\n\n\nSubsidiary:\n\nPayPal\n\nTravel Percent:\n\n0\n\n-\n\nThe base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:\n\nPrimary Location | Pay Range:\n\nScottsdale, Arizona | ($100,500.00 - $149,600.00 Annually)\n\nAdditional Location(s) | Pay Range:\n\nSan Jose, California | ($116,500.00 - $173,250.00 Annually) \n\n\nAdditional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.\n\nPayPal does not charge candidates any fees for courses, applications, resume reviews, interviews, background checks, or onboarding.
