Switchgear Technician 4
Join a leading provider of mission-critical electrical solutions as a Switchgear Technician IV in Phoenix, AZ. As a Switchgear Technician IV, you will play a key role in the start-up, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of state-of-the-art electrical equipment supporting essential operations. Responsibilities
- Support pre-sales activities by reviewing technical specifications, submittal packages, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Participate in factory witness testing and coordinate resolution of punch list items with factory project managers.
- Act as a technical liaison between sales, engineering, quality, and product support teams.
- Lead installation efforts, including scope discussions, change order processes, and coordination with contractors, vendors, and customers.
- Advise on project staffing needs and ensure proper site scheduling and resource allocation.
- Coordinate site testing, third-party labor, and test equipment as needed.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, identify labor requirements, and report on project status and potential margin impacts.
- Ensure completion of all project documentation and obtain final customer acceptance upon project completion.
- Conduct specialized commissioning and testing of systems, and provide technical training to customers and field engineers.
- Respond to service calls, perform preventive maintenance, and support regional personnel as directed.
- Travel up to 30% of the time to support projects and site visits.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Field Service Management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in electronics, electrical theory, or a related discipline highly desirable; equivalent work or military experience accepted.
- Minimum 7 years of field repair or customer service experience with UPS, electrical, electro-mechanical, or electronics-related equipment, or equivalent military equipment experience.
- Three to five years of experience with mission-critical products and critical power systems.
- Experience with critical power equipment, including UPS, switchgear, PLCs, batteries, monitoring equipment, and generators.
- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer relations skills.
- Experience in technical writing, including JHAs, MOPs, technical reports, and procedures.
- Ability to train, influence, and motivate team members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Project.
- Technical and troubleshooting skills; testing experience per NETA and NICET standards.
- NETA/NICET Level 2 or 3 certification preferred.
- Valid state vehicle operator's license required.
- U.S. citizenship required.
