Job Description
Are you the go-to process/design engineer when projects get complex? Step in as our Senior Design & Project Engineer in Phoenix and set the engineering standard across multiple plants – owning capital projects from concept through startup, mentoring a small team, and turning novel chemistries into safe, scalable operations.
Why Join Us?
Lead the Standard – Define and formalize best-in-class engineering practices to be used across multiple production plants.
Build What’s Next – Partner with R&D and agronomy to translate new chemistries into practical designs, pilots, and full-scale solutions.
Own the Lifecycle – Guide projects through FEP/FEL/FEED, redline P&IDs, model processes, and support safe, successful startups.
Mentor & Multiply – Lead a small team of engineers while collaborating with HSE, Operations, Project Services and Plant Managers.
Optimize at Scale – Troubleshoot plant upsets, debottleneck processes, and create reusable designs that lift performance company-wide.
What You’ll Do:
✅ Set and enforce Tessenderlo Kerley engineering standards, procedures and design practices (schedules, tools and policies).
✅ Drive new project/chemistry development with R&D; plan and run lab work, pilots and simulations/models.
✅ Lead scope development and estimates; execute/manage plant projects from FEP/FEL/FEED to handoff.
✅ Create, review, and redline P&IDs, spec sheets and equipment drawings; develop M&E balances and PFDs.
✅ Participate in HAZOPs and MOC/What-If reviews; ensure documentation aligns with HSE compliance.
✅ Troubleshoot chemistry/quality issues, process upsets and equipment failures; recommend optimization and debottlenecking projects.
✅ Mentor and train engineers; provide DCS instrumentation/hardware guidance and startup leadership.
✅ Build internal tools and monthly KPI reporting; support plant budgeting for CIP/major maintenance.
