Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The HR Generalist is responsible for maintaining a compliant and supportive work environment by overseeing labor law adherence, workplace investigations, and the development of internal policies and job descriptions. This role manages complex employee support systems, including FMLA, disability accommodations, workers' compensation claims, and specialized benefit programs like the Travel Reduction Program. By facilitating the performance review process and leading employee engagement initiatives, the Generalist plays a key role in driving organizational growth and fostering a positive workplace culture.

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE AN HR GENERALIST AT HOPCo

  • Success in this role is defined by your ability to be a strategic anchor for the HR department, ensuring that the foundational elements of the employee experience are governed with precision and expert judgment.
  • You provide the oversight and expertise for the "moments that matter"—from guiding a complex interactive process for a leave of absence to serving as the final approval authority for life events in PlanSource. Your impact is felt through your ability to resolve high-stakes issues and make complex regulatory requirements feel seamless for our staff.
  • Beyond technical tasks, you are a champion for our culture. You lead the strategy behind our employee engagement efforts, such as the fall festival and volunteer opportunities, ensuring they easily foster community. You balance the sensitive nature of workplace investigations with high-energy community building, acting as a trusted consultant for the entire team.

CONSIDER THIS ROLE IF. . .

  • You enjoy a fast-paced environment where you can influence every part of the HR lifecycle—from benefits and compliance to culture-building.
  • You find satisfaction in technical nuances, whether it’s auditing HRIS data for strategic accuracy, navigating the legal complexities of FMLA/ADA, or ensuring a workers' compensation claim is resolved perfectly.
  • You enjoy being the strategic face of HR initiatives, leading wellness programs and crafting communications that drive employee engagement and health.
  • You find fulfillment in resolving complex employee complaints and helping staff navigate sensitive life transitions.
  • If you prefer to work only on abstract strategy and avoid hands-on resolution, you will struggle here. This role is about high-level execution—managing workplace investigations, ensuring regulatory filings are flawless, and providing final oversight to the department's day-to-day operations.
  • You are comfortable with sensitive, high-stakes conversations; you must remain objective and professional while resolving complex workplace issues.

You thrive in a high-growth environment where you are expected to lead special projects and respond to evolving organizational needs with agility and professional discretion.
