Job Title: Business Process Analyst
Location: Tempe, AZ (Hybrid)
Compensation : $78 – $84/ hr.
Type: 8-month contract (with possibility of extension)
Position Summary
Phoenix Staff is seeking a Process Improvement & Documentation Specialist to support the development, modernization, and governance of business processes, technical documentation, and operational procedures. This role partners with technical and business stakeholders to improve documentation quality, strengthen compliance initiatives, optimize engineering and operational workflows, and establish sustainable document management practices.
The ideal candidate is a self-driven professional with strong project management, process mapping, and documentation expertise who can lead initiatives with minimal supervision while collaborating across multiple teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and evaluate existing process documentation, procedures, and workflow information from cross-functional stakeholders.
- Partner with subject matter experts to revise, enhance, and standardize existing processes by incorporating current technologies, applications, and industry best practices.
- Develop recommendations that improve operational efficiency, documentation quality, compliance, and process consistency.
- Create documentation for new and evolving business processes, including:
- Standard operating procedures
- Process maps and workflow diagrams
- Training materials
- Data flow documentation
- System and architecture diagrams
- Design and maintain a centralized document repository with appropriate version control, organization, and tracking mechanisms.
- Review existing documentation repositories and consolidate duplicate or outdated materials to ensure employees access a single source of accurate information.
- Establish governance standards for document creation, review, approval, ownership, retention, and ongoing maintenance.
- Define document ownership, accountability, and lifecycle management responsibilities.
- Develop communication materials, awareness campaigns, onboarding content, and training resources to support organizational adoption of new processes.
- Evaluate and update existing job aids, quick reference guides, and instructional documentation.
- Organize and improve internal training resources to increase accessibility and usability.
- Support the development and ongoing administration of root cause analysis (RCA) processes for operational, compliance, and safety-related events.
- Coordinate project activities by developing timelines, managing stakeholder communication, and tracking project milestones.
- Provide leadership and strategic guidance regarding document management, governance, storage, retrieval, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Effectively communicate project updates and recommendations to leadership while independently driving projects to completion.
Required Qualifications
- Experience documenting and improving business or engineering processes.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Experience creating process flows, SOPs, work instructions, and training documentation.
- Knowledge of document management systems such as SharePoint or similar collaboration platforms.
- Ability to facilitate discussions with technical subject matter experts and business stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including presentations to leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize multiple initiatives, and deliver results with minimal oversight.
- Familiarity with compliance-driven environments, engineering organizations, or regulated industries is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement, governance, or operational excellence initiatives is preferred.
