General Manager
Overview
At Grass Clippings, we’re redefining the par-3 golf experience and growing our team. Grass Clippings Rolling Hills is Arizona’s first fully lit 18-hole golf course, located near ASU, downtown Phoenix, and Old Town Scottsdale. We also host The Grass League, a high-stakes par-3 golf league with team ownership. We are launching Glenrosa, a Sonoran-inspired culinary destination with a live-fire wood grill, and we seek a hospitality-driven professional to lead as General Manager for Rolling Hills and Glenrosa.
As General Manager, you will direct and oversee all aspects of the property, including a high-performing Food & Beverage operation. You’ll manage relationships with guests, associates, and the community, ensuring maximum guest satisfaction and strong financial performance. Extensive food and beverage experience is a must.
- Support and direct the operation of a culinary destination that offers unique, high quality and consistent products to both non-golfer and golfer diners.
- Work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, Head Pro and the Superintendent on a daily basis to ensure timely communication and to establish a good working relationship.
- Supervise inventories of materials and supplies for all outlets. Maintain par levels based on facility needs.
- Administer menu design, product pricing, ordering, inventory control procedures, and end-of-month inventory.
- Coordinate menu planning with the Executive Chef.
- Ensure sanitation standards are consistently met.
- Create a guest service–oriented atmosphere and culture that promotes golf and a culinary destination, meeting the needs of members and guests.
- Coordinate development of operating and capital budgets according to the budget calendar; monitor monthly financial statements and take corrective action as required.
- Monitor monthly and other financial reports for the facility and take corrective action when necessary.
- Oversee care and maintenance of all facility assets.
- Create long-range and annual business plans for the property.
- Develop and maintain a sound organizational plan and initiate improvements as necessary.
- Establish personnel policies, monitor policies relating to personnel actions and training, and support professional development programs.
- Ensure all Human Resources procedures and policies are followed by management staff.
- Implement policies and procedures for multiple departments, including compliance with company standards for quality of products and services.
- Ensure the property is operated in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and that associates provide a high level of guest service.
- Recruiting, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Directly manage department members that may include Head Professionals, Golf Course Superintendent(s), Tournament Director, F&B Manager, Chef, Instruction, etc.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (BA); or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Multi-course facilities may require more experience.)
Physical Demands:
Regularly stands, walks and sits. Occasionally may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, taste or smell. Regularly uses hands and fingers, feel or handle, reach with arms and hands, talk or hear. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds. Occasional outdoor work in varying weather; noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses:
CMAA member or PGA/LPGA membership preferred.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
- Strong working knowledge and experience in all aspects of Food & Beverage operations, kitchens, special events and on-course food and beverage service.
- Ability to read and speak English as required to perform the job (e.g., communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers; manuals for equipment may be in English).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Compensation: $180,000 + bonus
