Technician
Tailings Pump House Control Room Operator
The Tailings Pump House Control Room Operator oversees the safe and efficient operation of the tailings pump house and distribution system. This role monitors and adjusts pumps and valves, coordinates dam activities, and supports production targets while ensuring compliance with safety and operating standards.

Position Responsibilities:
- Pump House Operations: Operate and monitor pumps, valves, and control systems to maintain proper tailings and water distribution; adjust pumps and delivery points in coordination with Mill Operations.
- System Monitoring & Documentation: Enter notifications, time delays, and operational data into control systems; maintain accurate and timely reporting for the area.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety policies, MSHA regulations, standard operating procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Report all accidents, incidents, and equipment damage.
- Personnel Coordination: Direct and coordinate personnel on the dam for crane operations, sand production, and related control activities to meet operational plans.
- Production Support: Allocate resources and support work planning to achieve production targets; address operational issues as they arise.
- Equipment Coordination: Monitor equipment condition through proper operating practices and coordinate maintenance activities as needed to ensure reliability.
- Training & Mentorship: Support training and development of team members; collaborate with supervisors to ensure workforce competency and certification requirements are met.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to operational practices, systems, and processes to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Mill Operations and other departments to support operational needs and resolve issues.
- Additional Duties: Perform other assigned tasks as required to support tailings operations.
Position Requirements:
- Experience operating and monitoring computerized control systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in tailings and water operations, including at least one (1) year in pump house operations.
- Strong working knowledge of processing operations, tailings systems, and pump/valve configurations.
- Experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems.
- Prior experience coordinating field personnel in a tailings or dam environment.
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
- Combination of control room and field-based work.
- Ability to stand and walk for short durations, including climbing stairs and navigating uneven surfaces.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, including rain events.

All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty'. Additional training and/or testing may be required. Capstone maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
