Payroll Tax Supervisor POST NUMBER: 478133

Vaco Phoenix is partnering with a growing organization in the Mesa area to hire a Tax Supervisor. This is a direct hire opportunity offering a hybrid schedule after training, strong leadership exposure, and the opportunity to oversee a team within a large multi-state tax environment.

Compensation:

• $95,000–$110,000 annual salary
• 10% annual bonus

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and mentor a team of 8–10 Tax Specialists
• Oversee federal, state, and local tax filings and payments across multiple states
• Review and validate tax filings to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Partner closely with payroll teams to support payroll tax accuracy and issue resolution
• Research and resolve tax-related issues and notices
• Ensure recurring filing deadlines are met in a high-volume environment
• Assist with process improvements, training, and implementation of best practices
• Support new state and locality tax setup and compliance requirements

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field
• 5 years of tax experience within a corporate or high-volume environment
• Experience with multi-state tax compliance
• Prior supervisory experience with direct reports
• Experience partnering with payroll teams and reviewing payroll tax filings
• Strong understanding of tax compliance processes, deadlines, and controls
