Overview
An aerospace and defense manufacturing organization is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to support the design, development, and testing of aerospace restraint systems, assemblies, components, and related test equipment.
This role combines hands-on engineering support with customer-facing technical coordination and product development responsibilities. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical design experience, familiarity with aerospace hardware environments, and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customer teams.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Product Development
- Create new mechanical designs and modify existing aerospace products based on engineering and customer requirements.
- Develop:
- Technical drawings
- Assembly documentation
- BOMs
- Engineering change orders
- Technical reports
- Support packaging design and integration of aerospace hardware systems.
- Apply ANSI Y14.5 drafting standards and GD&T principles.
Engineering Support & Manufacturing Collaboration
- Provide hands-on engineering support for:
- Prototype fabrication
- Assembly
- Testing
- Production hardware
- Troubleshoot manufacturing, assembly, quality, and performance issues.
- Coordinate with suppliers, sales teams, and internal departments to ensure compliance with specifications and customer expectations.
Technical Coordination
- Serve as a technical point of contact for domestic and international customers.
- Support proposal development, cost estimation, scheduling, and preliminary design concepts.
- Review issues related to product function, integrity, safety, and technical quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- Minimum 3+ years of related engineering experience .
- Proficiency with:
- SolidWorks
- AutoCAD
- ANSI Y14.5 drafting standards
- Familiarity with:
- Sheet metal components
- Injection molded parts
- Machined components
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of:
- Aerospace systems
- FAA requirements
- Aerospace manufacturing environments
- Experience with:
- Structural analysis
- Product packaging design
- Technical documentation
- Project management experience is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must meet applicable U.S. export control requirements.
- Some domestic and international travel may be required.
- Position may regularly require work beyond 40 hours per week.
