Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As a journeyman electrician, responsibilities include the safe removal, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical components. This role performs preventive and corrective maintenance, routine and non-routine repairs, and construction on industrial electrical systems such as substations, power distribution, switchgear, motors, and motor controls.

• Demonstrate commitment to safety and Capstone’s Values in Action.
• Install, maintain, & troubleshoot electrical equipment, very large AC motors, motor control, power distribution, and lighting controls.
• Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required

• Working knowledge of analytical troubleshooting techniques.
• Working knowledge of PLC hardware
• Working knowledge of OHM law
• Ability to install and maintain low voltage circuits
• Ability in conduit installation
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
• Ability to work in both hot and cold environments with high humidity.
• Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, and squat, occasionally in confined spaces.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to speak, comprehend, read and write in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.

Preferred

• Electrical experience working in a mine processing facility
• Aerial work platform experience
• Basic Math & Trigonometry

All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty’. Additional training and/or testing may be required.
