Compliance & Grants Manager

We are now seeking a dedicated Compliance & Grants Manager to ensure robust federal grant compliance and provide key accounting support, ensuring that our operations remain transparent, effective, and aligned with our mission. As the Compliance & Grants Manager you will be a crucial member of our team, responsible for safeguarding the integrity of our federal grant programs. Your expertise in federal grant management, meticulous attention to detail, and strong project management skills will help us navigate complex regulatory landscapes while supporting the finance team with accounting functions. Key Responsibilities

Grant Compliance Oversight:

• Manage and monitor federal grant activities to ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and internal guidelines.
• Develop, implement, and maintain a robust compliance framework for grant-funded projects.

Accounting & Financial Support:

• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate recording, tracking, and reporting of grant-related expenses.
• Assist with budget reconciliation, audit preparations, and financial reporting specific to grant funds.

Project Management & Audit Coordination:

• Lead compliance-related projects, including internal audits and preparation for external regulatory reviews.
• Coordinate with auditors and federal agencies, ensuring timely submission of reports and corrective actions.

Regulatory Monitoring & Risk Management:

• Stay current with federal regulatory changes and update internal policies and procedures accordingly.
• Identify compliance risks and develop proactive strategies to mitigate them.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Act as the primary liaison for compliance matters with internal departments, external auditors, and federal agencies.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on grant compliance and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

Federal Grant Management:

• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience managing federal grants with a proven record of maintaining compliance in complex regulatory environments.

Attention to Detail & Analytical Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with a high degree of accuracy and a strong focus on details.

Project Management:

• Proven experience leading compliance projects, managing timelines, and delivering results.

Accounting Proficiency:

• Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal control processes.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Flexibility & Agility:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing culture, as the company is operating in a start-up environment.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience in clean energy finance or managing loan funds.
• Advanced certifications in compliance, risk management, or accounting (e.g., CCEP, CPA) are highly desirable.
• Background in nonprofit, governmental, or economic development sectors.
