Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Certified Back Office Medical Assistant to join our growing cardiology practice. The ideal candidate is passionate about providing exceptional patient care, thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative healthcare team.

As a Back Office Medical Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our physicians and advanced practice providers by ensuring patients receive high-quality, efficient care throughout their visit. You will be responsible for preparing patients for examinations, performing clinical procedures, maintaining accurate medical records, and assisting providers with a variety of patient care duties.

While previous cardiology experience is preferred, we are willing to train an enthusiastic candidate who has strong clinical skills and a desire to learn.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Welcome and room patients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical history, chief complaints, allergies, and current medications.
  • Perform EKGs and other diagnostic testing as directed.
  • Complete medication reconciliation and update electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Assist physicians and providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare and review patient charts prior to appointments to ensure all records, test results, and referrals are complete.
  • Administer injections, immunizations, and medications within the scope of certification and state regulations.
  • Coordinate laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
  • Educate patients regarding medications, testing, treatment plans, and provider instructions.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Respond to patient phone calls and portal messages regarding clinical questions, prescription refill requests, and follow-up care.
  • Assist with prior authorizations, prescription refills, and coordination of care when needed.
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and all practice safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and clinical work areas.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, front office staff, and other team members to ensure an outstanding patient experience.
Qualifications
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Cardiology experience is highly preferred but not required.
  • Experience performing EKGs required or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude.
  • Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who is dependable, compassionate, and committed to delivering excellent patient care. They are organized, adaptable, and able to remain calm in a busy medical practice. They enjoy working closely with providers and fellow team members and take pride in helping patients feel comfortable and cared for during every visit.

If you are looking to join a professional cardiology practice where teamwork, patient care, and excellence are valued, we encourage you to apply. We offer the opportunity to grow your clinical skills while making a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients every day.

Demonstrates flexibility by willingly taking on new responsibilities and assisting with tasks outside their primary job duties to support the team's and company's needs. Responds positively to management direction, adapting quickly to changing priorities, business demands, and operational needs without resistance. Maintains a team-first mindset by collaborating across departments and contributing wherever needed to help achieve organizational goals. Shows initiative by identifying opportunities to help, solve problems, and improve processes rather than limiting contributions to assigned job responsibilities.
