Opportunity Overview
As an Area Development Manager (ADM), you will play a critical role in advancing disease education for Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) and acquired Hypothalamic Obesity (HO) within a targeted physician community. Serving as a key member of the North America Medical Affairs organization, the ADM will act as a scientific and educational resource, fostering deep disease-state understanding and supporting appropriate diagnostic and testing initiatives.

In this role, ADMs will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners—including Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Clinical Development—to execute disease education strategies and support testing initiatives around Rare Genetic Diseases of Obesity (RGDO). Additionally, ADMs may support the Clinical Development team by assisting with awareness and enrollment efforts for ongoing and future clinical studies, as appropriate.

This position requires strong scientific and business acumen, the ability to engage in high-quality scientific exchange, and a collaborative mindset to help advance patient identification and education, rare obesity-related diseases.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong rare disease and/or endocrine field experience, including sales or other customer-facing roles, who are agile, adaptable, and comfortable navigating ambiguity. Successful ADMs will demonstrate a passion for Rhythm’s mission and vision, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, evolving environment. This position reports to the Senior Director, Head of Area Development Managers (ADMs).

Must reside in the Los Angeles/San Diego metro area or Phoenix metro area. Territory includes Southern California, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Execute disease education to target HCPs in alignment with company priorities and direction.
  • Develop strong relationships with experts and target specialists in assigned geography, ensuring delivery of clinically focused messages.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with matrix team members to address customer needs related to Rhythm’s genetic testing program.
  • Execute a compliant, tailored approach by applying business analytics and marketplace knowledge.
  • Foster strong relationships with HCPs in assigned geography to support disease education.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, including clinical operations and MSLs, to optimize clinical study recruitment when needed.
  • Ensure accurate capture and reporting of data in the CRM.
  • Engage in ongoing training to improve skills and optimize execution to meet yearly objectives.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams on the development of collateral to support the teams’ activities.
  • Ensure completion of all corporate and administrative responsibilities with high level of compliance and efficiency, including healthcare compliance training, expense reports and other assignments by established deadlines.
Qualifications and Skills
  • BS/BA degree in science or business preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in specialty pharmaceutical or biotechnology sales
  • Proven experience in rare disease and/or endocrinology.
  • Proven track record of consistent performance in complex markets with diverse customer segments
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory and enforcement environments
  • High level of commitment to ethical and compliant behavior
  • Ability to have high command of scientific data and to communicate it effectively to different audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong productive engagement of customers utilizing active listening.
  • Passionate about improving patient care delivery with strong customer orientation and insight.
  • Self-motivated, highly energetic individual with the ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative and accountable culture to reach common goals.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with a solution-oriented mindset
  • High level of organizational and operational skills, with attention to detail and sound business judgment
  • Ability to travel up to 80% as necessary.
This role will be field based. Candidates applying must be based in a centralized location in their territory and have easy access to transportation and airports.

The expected salary range for this position is $135,000 - $215,000 . Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance. This role may be eligible for benefits and other compensation such as restricted stock units.
