The Opportunity:
We have immediate openings for temporary Archaeological Field Technicians to work in Arizona based out of our Tempe or Tucson office.
What We Offer:
- Compensation – This position is paid on an hourly basis between $24 - $26 per hour, depending on experience and education. Per diem, for hotel-based projects and for camping-based projects, will be provided for all non-local fieldwork. Logan Simpson will provide single-occupancy hotel rooms for all hotel-based projects.
- Benefits – Temporary staff members are eligible for paid sick leave, 8 paid holidays, eligibility for a healthcare program through ACRA (American Cultural Resources Association), and for eligible temporary staff members, the firm offers a $150 field gear stipend and a retention bonus program.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Work cooperatively with crew members and supervisors.
- Work outdoors in extreme temperatures.
- Identify archaeological artifacts and features.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology and/or completion of an accredited field school; applicants without these credentials will also be considered.
- Education and/or experience in the U.S. Southwest, especially the Hohokam region (is a plus).
- Experience conducting fieldwork in a cultural resource management setting, especially archaeological excavation.
- Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day over steep terrain for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in remote locations.
- Proficiency with electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets for digital data collection.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to carpool and travel to out-of-town job sites.
