Position Summary
This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or an early-career professional looking to expand their technical expertise in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. PrePass is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to contribute to the development of application prototypes, proof of concepts, and performance evaluations for new hardware and software frameworks. This role also involves enhancing existing products by leveraging C# .NET programming skills. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and test software solutions focused on hardware interfacing and API integration. This hybrid role is based at our downtown Phoenix office.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development: Develop and maintain high-quality software using C# .NET and related technologies for both on-premise and cloud-based applications.
Hardware Interfacing: Create and manage software solutions that interact with hardware components, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
Testing & Debugging: Conduct thorough unit and integration testing, as well as field testing for hardware components, to ensure software quality and stability.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and stakeholders to translate hardware specifications into software requirements and deliver effective solutions.
Documentation: Maintain clear and concise technical documentation to support software maintainability and future enhancements.
Agile Development: Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure effective software delivery.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1-2 years of experience developing software applications using C#/Java/C++/Python.
- Strong understanding of core computer science concepts.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while following company processes and standards.
- Proficiency in Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, Azure DevOps, and Git.
- Experience with manual and unit testing.
Bonus Points
Experience developing software for the transportation industry.
Familiarity with hardware interfacing protocols and communication methods.
Experience working with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps).
