Commissioning Engineer - Mission Critical
GCON is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our innovative, people-focused construction team! Key Responsibilities
- Support commissioning activities for MEP systems, ensuring critical data center infrastructure is fully operational and tested.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, trade partners, and clients to align commissioning with construction sequencing.
- Alongside the CX team, draft commissioning plans, test scripts, and procedures, from pre-functional checks to integrated system testing.
- Track and report deficiencies, testing results, and project progress, ensuring timely resolution of all issues.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure all life safety, redundancy, and reliability requirements are met.
- Review design documents and submittals to identify potential commissioning or constructability challenges.
- Support project turnover and owner training, delivering clear documentation and final reports.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in commissioning for mission-critical or data center projects with a general contractor.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience with hyperscale or enterprise-level data center projects.
- Familiarity with digital project management platforms (CMIC Procore, BIM 360, or similar).
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and their commissioning requirements.
- Proven ability to coordinate across field and office teams, driving successful project completion.
- Experience with construction sequencing, testing protocols, and integrated systems testing.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex systems during commissioning.
- Familiarity with industry-standard commissioning tools and documentation workflows.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and client-facing skills.
