Automotive Mainline Technician
Chapman Chevrolet is seeking a skilled Mainline Automotive Technician to join our Service Department. The Mainline Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining vehicle systems on a wide range of customer vehicles. With an emphasis on more complex mechanical and electrical systems beyond basic maintenance, our Mainline Technicians ensure customer vehicles are repaired and maintained to the highest industry standards for optimal safety and performance. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in vehicle diagnostics and repairs obtained through hands-on experience and technical training, coupled with excellent teamwork and communication skills. - Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections and document inspection findings, recommended maintenance, and necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with Service Advisors to communicate vehicle needs and repair timelines to customers.
- Test diagnose, maintain and repair malfunctions with engines, transmissions, suspension, brakes, air conditioning and other major mechanical systems.
- Conduct road tests upon completion of repairs to ensure vehicle safety and functionality.
- Complete services on the repair order as authorized by the customer to dealership and GM standards.
- Ensure all warranty work is completed in accordance with GM warranty process and specifications.
- 2 or more years of hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing vehicle systems (i.e. engine, transmission, brakes, etc.) required.
- OEM and ASE Certifications are strongly preferred.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of automotive systems and repair techniques and proficiency with diagnostic equipment.
- Strong problem solving, communication and teamwork skills.
- Must have your own tools and toolbox.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
- Must successfully complete Chapman’s pre-employment screenings, which include a background check and drug test.
