Job Description

Welder helpers will assist the welding shop with all production and labor work. Tasks include tacking steel together, cutting steel using various tools such as saws, oxy acetylene torches, plasma cutters, or shears. Additional duties involve marking steel, moving equipment, cleaning up the shop when needed, and moving steel through the yard.

Responsibilities

• Assist in production and labor work in the welding shop.
• Tack steel together and cut steel using saws, oxy acetylene torches, plasma cutters, or shears.
• Mark steel accurately for projects.
• Move equipment and steel as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of the shop environment.
• Transport steel through the yard safely.

Essential Skills

• Ability to safely operate an angle grinder and handle tools for cutting and heating steel.
• Knowledge in starting and setting flame for cutting tasks.
• Familiarity with basic MIG welding processes.
• Proficiency in using a plasma cutter and other power tools.
• General labor experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a welding shop or familiarity with welding shop equipment.
• Experience in labor positions with exposure to varying temperatures.

Work Environment

The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor shop settings. Employees will experience exposure to heat during the summer and cold during the winter. The shop is largely covered with open portions of the building for crane access.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
