Title: Construction Manager 5 Location: Goodyear, Arizona Explain a typical day in the role
A typical day for QA/QC Construction Manager starts in the field verifying that installed work aligns with approved submittals, drawings, and testing requirements. They walk active work fronts, assess quality, identify nonconformances, and confirm inspections are executed as planned. They review contractor deliverables such as submittals, RFIs, and schedules to ensure quality requirements are embedded in execution. They track inspection and testing documentation to confirm readiness for upcoming milestones and coordinate OFCI components to support proper integration across trades. Role engages in project meetings to flag quality risks and assess readiness for design, construction, and commissioning activities. As work progresses, they identify issues that could impact commissioning or turnover and support documentation compliance. Overall, the role provides continuous field oversight and coordination to maintain alignment with contract quality requirements and support delivery readiness.
Summary
The main function of a construction manager is to plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as engineering, research and development, financial systems and product roll-out, etc.
Job Responsibilities
• Coordinate projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
- Present and explain proposals, reports and findings to clients.
- Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
- Analyze technology, resource needs and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
- Confer with management, production and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
- Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
What is the ideal background of a candidate for this role?
Strong field experience: Direct involvement in construction execution, inspections, and troubleshooting
Progressive leadership: Growth from technician or supervisor roles into construction manager, QA/QC, or safety leadership positions
Safety and compliance foundation: Demonstrated ownership of safety programs, high-risk activity planning, and enforcement of standards
Project delivery exposure: Experience supporting planning, scheduling, cost control, and change management across full project lifecycle
Quality mindset: Proven ability to monitor installation quality, enforce specifications, and manage inspection and testing requirements
Cross-functional coordination: Regular engagement with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to drive alignment and execution
Skills
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
- Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
- Knowledge of computer software, such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio etc.
Education/Experience
• Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
- PMI or PMP certification preferred.
- 10+ years experience required.
Top 3 Must-Have HARD Skills
1. Construction Field Execution & QA/QC Oversight — 7+ years
Direct experience inspecting work in place, validating against drawings/submittals, managing nonconformances, and enforcing inspection and testing requirements in active construction environments.
2. Safety & High-Risk Activity Management (LOTO, Energy Isolation, OSHA) — 5+ years
Hands-on ownership of safety programs, including planning and controlling high-risk work, enforcing compliance, and exercising stop-work authority when required.
3. Project Controls & Construction Coordination (Scheduling, RFIs, Submittals, Change Mgmt) — 5+ years
Working knowledge of project lifecycle controls, including schedule tracking, RFI/submittal review, change order support, and coordination across contractors, trades, and stakeholders.

Salary Range: $1,87,200 - 1,90,200 Annually -Factors that may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
