Summary: The Gauge Calibration Technician will inspect and adjust gauges, measuring instruments, and manage 3rd party calibration vendors to calibrate gages and equipment requiring their services. Secondary to Gauge calibrations, the Gage Technician will also perform other quality functions such as process and product inspections, internal and supplier audits, and quality surveys and studies.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Monitors and maintains a clean and well-organized gauge lab.
- Monitors and maintain gauges at 2 facilities located 4 miles apart (both within Scottsdale).
- Monitors and maintains calibrations to keep gauges and instruments in date and in-service.
- Conducts and manages all gauge calibrations/inspections requirements.
- Manages and performs GR & R studies on all gage families as required.
- Maintains positive and productive working relationships with others.
- Inspects final product for proper labeling, connectors, cabling, paint, threads, and workmanship criteria.
- Accurately maintain electronic and hardcopy records of all processes and transactions.
- Writes non-conforming material reports for defective products.
- Investigate process and product nonconformities and recommend solutions.
- Demonstrated aptitude and experience with mechanical measurements.
- Experience with micrometers, calipers, thread gages, plug gages, ring gages, pin gages, etc…
- Ability to learn and use new software, especially ERP software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively manage time.
- Ability to drive between 2 locations.
- Ability to read engineering prints and procedures.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a calibration technician.
- Ability to manage, de-escalate, and resolve conflict through effective communication.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- PMEL military metrology experience OR ASQ Certified Calibration Technician OR ASQ other ASQ certifications.
- Experience with SyteLine ERP software.
- Experience with work in a formal metrology environment.
- Experience with Load Cells and Strain Gages.
- Demonstrated aptitude and experience with electrical measurements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position will be in a production shop with heavy machinery.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items between 35-70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
