Job Description: Barista / Café Team Member

Reports To: Shift Lead / Manager

Position Summary:

Honeycutt Coffee Café & Wine Bar is looking for friendly, dependable, and hardworking team members who enjoy providing great customer service and working as part of a team.

This is a hands-on café position . Our Baristas do more than make coffee. Team members are responsible for preparing drinks, cooking and preparing food, taking care of customers, cleaning, completing daily side work, stocking, and helping maintain the café throughout the entire shift.

Every team member helps wherever needed to keep Honeycutt welcoming, clean, organized, and running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

• Welcome and greet every customer in a friendly and professional manner.
• Take customer orders accurately and answer questions about menu items.
• Provide a positive and welcoming experience for every guest.
• Handle customer concerns appropriately and involve a manager when needed.
• Help create the friendly, community-focused atmosphere Honeycutt is known for.

Coffee & Beverage Preparation:

• Prepare coffee, espresso drinks, teas, specialty beverages, and other menu items according to Honeycutt standards.
• Follow recipes, portion guidelines, and presentation expectations.
• Maintain a clean and organized drink station.
• Restock cups, lids, syrups, milk, coffee, and other supplies throughout the shift.

Food Preparation & Cooking:

• Prepare and cook Honeycutt food menu items according to recipes and food-safety standards.
• Properly portion, plate, and serve food.
• Follow safe food handling, temperature, sanitation, and storage procedures.
• Keep kitchen and food-preparation areas clean and organized.
• Restock food and kitchen supplies as needed.

Cleaning & Side Work:

All Baristas are expected to participate in cleaning and side work throughout their shift, including:

• Washing dishes and kitchen equipment.
• Wiping and sanitizing tables, counters, equipment, and work areas.
• Sweeping and mopping floors.
• Cleaning restrooms.
• Emptying trash and replacing liners.
• Cleaning the lobby, dining areas, patio, entryway, and sidewalk areas as assigned.
• Keeping outdoor customer areas presentable.
• Stocking cups, napkins, utensils, condiments, food items, and other supplies.
• Completing opening and closing duties.
• Cleaning equipment according to established procedures.
• Organizing storage and work areas.
• Completing assigned shift side-work checklists before leaving.

Team Responsibilities:

• Communicate respectfully with coworkers and management.
• Help teammates during busy periods without waiting to be asked.
• Arrive on time and ready to work.
• Follow manager and shift-lead direction.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude.
• Follow Honeycutt policies, procedures, recipes, and service standards.
• Notify management of low inventory, equipment problems, customer concerns, or safety issues.
• Participate in team meetings and training as required.

Physical Requirements:

This position may require employees to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Bend, reach, squat, and perform repetitive movements.
• Safely lift, carry, push, or move supplies and equipment.
• Work around hot cooking equipment, coffee equipment, and food-preparation areas.
• Perform indoor and outdoor cleaning duties.
• Work in a busy café environment for the duration of the scheduled shift.

Scheduling Expectations:

Team members may be scheduled for a combination of:

• Opening shifts.
• Mid-day shifts.
• Closing shifts.
• Weekdays.
• Weekends.
• Holidays.
• Special events.

Availability and scheduling requirements will be discussed with management.
