Job Description
This role oversees materials management and supply chain activities to ensure that all materials, parts, and products are accurately planned, procured, and available to support production. The position maintains precise inventory records, leads and develops Materials Coordinators, and collaborates closely with buyers and sales to align material availability with customer and production needs. The Materials Planner / Materials Manager uses internal systems and ERP/MRP tools to track inventory levels and drive continuous improvement in inventory accuracy and material flow.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end materials management process to ensure timely planning, procurement, and delivery of materials to support production schedules.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all materials and parts within the facility using internal systems and ERP/MRP tools.
- Ensure material availability to support production by monitoring stock levels, lead times, and demand forecasts.
- Collaborate closely with buyers and sales teams to ensure the correct parts and products are available to meet customer and production requirements.
- Track quantities and levels of parts and materials through internal systems, and promptly address discrepancies or shortages.
- Manage, coach, and train Materials Coordinators to ensure consistent processes, strong performance, and adherence to company standards.
- Establish and maintain accurate and timely processes to validate inventory accuracy, including cycle counts and reconciliation activities.
- Oversee material handling, receiving, shipping, and will-call activities to ensure efficient and organized warehouse operations.
- Coordinate logistics related to incoming materials and outgoing products, including scheduling and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support purchasing and procurement activities by providing accurate inventory data and usage trends.
- Use computer-based tools and data entry to maintain up-to-date records of inventory, transactions, and material movements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives in inventory management and supply chain processes.
- Provide customer-oriented support for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely responses and professional communication.
- Demonstrate flexibility by staying late or coming in early as needed to support production demands and overtime requirements.
Essential Skills
- At least 5+ years of experience in materials management.
- Proven experience managing and leading a team.
- Strong ability to adapt to change and handle stress effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated alignment with a culture of teamwork, customer-first mindset, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Experience working with inventory in an ERP/MRP system.
- Strong computer skills, including data entry and use of internal systems.
- Proficiency in inventory control and inventory management.
- Experience in materials management, material handling, and logistics.
- Experience in purchasing, buying, and procurement activities.
- Experience in receiving, shipping and receiving, and warehouse operations.
- Customer service and customer service–oriented approach.
- Valid Driver's License.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience managing parts inventory and will-call operations.
- Familiarity with planning and scheduling materials to support production.
- Comfort working in a mechanic garage, fabrication production shop, and outdoor stock areas.
- Ability to support continuous improvement efforts in supply chain and inventory processes.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with buyers, sales, production, and warehouse teams.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in tracking material levels and validating inventory.
- Willingness to work overtime, including staying late or arriving early, as needed.

Work Environment
The role is based in a mechanic garage setting and fabrication production shop, with a portion of product stock stored outside. Working hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and the position requires openness to staying late or coming in early for overtime when needed. The facility is currently located in the heart of Phoenix, with plans to relocate to a new facility in the far west valley by the end of the year. The environment involves active coordination with production, warehouse, and office staff, using ERP/MRP systems and other computer tools to manage inventory and materials. The dress code is customer-facing and requires jeans or long work pants paired with a nice polo or T-shirt, and steel-toe footwear may be required to support safety in the shop and warehouse areas.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $43.00/hr.
