Job Summary:
The Labor & Delivery RN provides direct patient care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including newborn care for up to 2 hours post-delivery. Supports obstetric and neonatal procedures, monitors maternal and fetal status, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, culturally competent, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities:
Perform vaginal exams, scalp electrodes, circulate C-sections, assist anesthesia, IV starts, blood draws, APGAR scoring.
Provide postpartum hemorrhage management, epidurals, amnio infusions, newborn transitions, and telemonitoring.
Deliver patient/family education, assess safety risks, and respond to emergency situations.
Follow AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios (1:1–1:2) and participate in on-call coverage as required.
Float to NICU/Peds/Women’s, MedSurg, or ICU as needed; care for antepartum and postpartum patients.
Collaborate with charge nurses, OB Techs, anesthesiology, and in-house OB/neonatology team.
Follow infection control protocols, EFM monitoring (CPN Centricity), and hospital safety policies.

Requirements:

Experience:
Must be skilled in vaginal exams, C-section circulation, newborn transitions, APGARS, IV starts, blood draws, epidurals, postpartum hemorrhage control, and telemonitoring.
Experience with spinning babies preferred.
Able to titrate Magnesium, Pitocin, insulin, and blood drips.
Must be prepared to float to other units (NICU/Peds/Women’s, MedSurg, ICU).

Education:
RN, graduate from accredited nursing program.

Certifications/Licensure:
BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced.
