Job Description

Job Description

Are you a hands-on problem solver with a passion for automation and controls? We're looking for an experienced Automation Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you'll play a key part in installing, programming, and maintaining industrial control systems—including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and instrumentation.

You’ll work on exciting automation projects from the ground up, including system startups, retrofits, and commissioning—while collaborating closely with engineers, electricians, and technicians to ensure everything runs safely and efficiently. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, love solving technical challenges, and want to grow in the automation field, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and wire control panels, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and motor controls

  • Calibrate and test field instrumentation and control loops

  • Troubleshoot and repair automation systems (electrical, PLC, sensor, and motor issues)

  • Assist in PLC and HMI programming and perform minor code modifications as needed

  • Interpret and work from schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs

  • Support system startups, retrofits, and commissioning at various job sites

  • Maintain accurate service logs, redlines, and technical documentation

  • Work closely with engineers and project managers to complete projects on time

  • Follow all electrical safety and site-specific protocols

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in automation, industrial controls, or electrical systems

  • Experience working with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and HMIs

  • Familiarity with VFDs , motor starters, and instrumentation

  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical drawings

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in both field and panel-level systems

  • Understanding of NEC , NFPA 70E , and safe electrical work practices

  • Associate degree or trade certification in Electrical Technology, Automation, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience

  • Willingness to travel to client sites and work occasional overtime as needed

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Nice to Have (Preferred, Not Required):

  • Experience with SCADA or networked control systems

  • Knowledge of industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)

  • Background in high-speed manufacturing, packaging, food/bev, or utilities

  • Panel building or custom control system integration experience

Why You’ll Love Working With Us:

  • Competitive pay (hourly or salaried depending on experience)

  • Overtime opportunities and paid travel time

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Paid time off and holidays

  • Tool and uniform allowance

  • Training and development opportunities — we invest in your growth

  • A tight-knit team that values your input and technical expertise

Join a company where your skills matter, your growth is supported, and every project offers something new to learn. If you're ready to take the next step in your automation career, we’d love to hear from you.
