Critical Systems Technician II, Connected Services
Join a team dedicated to supporting critical infrastructure as a Critical Systems Technician II, Connected Services. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the reliability and performance of battery systems for Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. This position offers hands-on experience with advanced battery technologies, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to work in a collaborative environment that values safety, precision, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
- Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of batteries with minimal disruption to customers.
- Contribute to warehouse operations as needed.
- Interact professionally with internal teams and external customers.
- Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures (MOPs).
- Adhere strictly to facility work rules and safety protocols.
- Utilize hand and general maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site during all phases of work.
- Assist with tasks in other service divisions, such as Switch Gear, Operations, and HVAC, as required.
- Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Learn and develop skills in disconnecting and connecting sealed batteries, building battery racks, and installing batteries in critical spaces.
- Enter pre-installation test readings and collect data for reporting using a laptop computer.
- Gain experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on DC battery systems with increasing independence.
- Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with basic fix/repair techniques under supervision.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, basic AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Ability to use digital multimeters, amp clamps, flexible CTs, and battery testing equipment (such as Alber Cellcorder) for diagnostic and maintenance tasks.
- Understanding of proper use of isolation devices, Arc-Flash suits, and PPE.
- Competency in connecting battery strings (series, parallel, series-parallel) and understanding torque values and visual inspection standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Completion of OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training (or willingness to obtain).
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to obtain security clearance is preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Willingness to travel approximately 75% or more as required by the position.
