Physician-Surgery: Bariatric
Position Responsibilities
- Foster strong collaborative relationships across the Departments of Surgery and Family Medicine to provide optimal care for patients with obesity.
- Participate in a multidisciplinary team offering both surgical and non-surgical weight-management options.
- Support the development and maintenance of BUMCT's Bariatric Surgery and Obesity Medicine services.
- Provide ongoing care for patients preparing for, or post, bariatric surgery.
- Manage patients pursuing non-surgical weight-management therapies.
- Engage in education, training, and clinical research opportunities.
- Work collegially with faculty, staff, and administrative teams.
- Increase community awareness of bariatric and obesity medicine programs.
- Identify opportunities for program growth and continuous quality improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous experience managing patients with obesity or completion of a fellowship in Obesity Medicine is preferred.
- MD or DO degree.
- Board Certification in Family Medicine preferred.
- Arizona medical license (or eligibility by hire date).
- Board Certified or Board Eligible through ABOM.
- Strong desire to work in an academic medical setting.
